Meet Ellen

Ellen ThorndikeOne of Stowe's most respected and knowledgeable Realtors is Ellen Thorndike. Ellen's enthusiasm for her hometown of 27 years is contagious. Throughout her career, Ellen's keen insight into the economic, educational, recreational and cultural attributes of Stowe has helped countless clients and customers appreciate the abundance and advantages of this exceptional Vermont community.

Ellen observes, "From a real estate perspective, dollar for dollar, Stowe offers one of the best values of any prosperous resort in the country; but equally important, Stowe is a vibrant, friendly community full of people who passionately care about their quality of life. We have an excellent school system, a flourishing business base, and opportunities for growth on so many different levels. It's no wonder Vermont consistently ranks as one of the top locations for its standard of living. It's clean, safe and affordable."

With a Master's Degree in Education, Ellen chose active involvement with the local school system. For three consecutive terms, the community elected Ellen to the Stowe School Board, two of which she chaired before retiring. In 1994 Ellen's professional peers expressed their respect for her dedication, generosity and integrity by honoring Ellen as the Realtor of the Year. In 1993 she was elected a Town Lister, a position she continues to hold. Ellen also serves as a Trustee and past chair of the Helen Day Art Center.

In her spare time. Ellen enjoys Stowe's great outdoors - skiing, snowshoeing, golf and hiking. In summer, a sure place to find Ellen is in her gardens, even long after the sun has set over Mt. Mansfield. Her family includes her husband, Alan Thorndike, a local attorney, two twenty-something sons, two fat cats and one farm dog.
